Hi, my name is William O'Neal Stringer and I'm a retired locomotive engineer from the Elgin Joliet and Eastern Railway where I put in 33 years of service. In high school I spent all my time in English class drawing cartoons and now I'm a published author....go figure. It has been quite a transition and I've endured quite a few bumps in the road along the way....but then who hasn't?
I've spent the majority of my life in the cold north, most notably Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois. Since 2003 I've lived in Spring Hill, Florida. I do not like snow you might say. Here in Florida I can ride my motorcycle almost every day of the year. Go fishing almost every day of the year and kayak almost every day of the year. Too bad I don't play golf.....LOL.
I always wanted to be a police officer but never made the team. So now I work part time as a security officer both armed and unarmed. I'm also volunteering at the Central Pasco & Gulf Railroad located at Crew's Lake Park. I'm the Road Foreman of Engines and Train Rules Examiner there. You can retire the man from the trains but the boy will still play with them. Here is a parade video from a recent event.
